Walking holiday The Caminos de Santiago

There are many names for these historic routes that lead to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, whether you know them as the Ways of St James, the Chemins de Compostelle, or the Caminos, these routes have been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. It is said that the remains of the apostle Saint James are buried in Santiago, and for centuries pilgrims have walked this route for religious reasons.
Nowadays the routes are travelled more and more by those searching for spiritual refreshment, to find themselves and to meet fellow walkers who come from all over the world. When a pilgrim is on the Camino he has three duties, to eat, to sleep and to walk. What better way to take a walking holiday, away from the hurly burly of the modern world ?
